I live in Fairfield, Ohio with my wife Cat and two puppy dogs (Macleod and Tessa). Click here to see some pix of the Sobeck estate. We moved into this house in January 2002 after some financial footwork that you wouldn't believe. I love this house more than I've ever loved anything that doesn't bleed if you cut it.

Cat and I were married on November 8, 1997 here in Fairfield. Click here for some pictures of the wedding day, and see if you can tell how sick I was. (No, it wasn't a hangover.)

We get more joy from our doggies than anything else - they truly are important members of the family. (Not counting me, they're 2/3 of my family, after all!) Click here to learn about our puppies.

I was born and raised in the best location in the nation, Cleveland Ohio. (Note to people from the Cincinnati area: I know you hate us in Cleveland, but frankly we don't think much of you one way or the other. Sorry.)

I spent a year or two as a student at Bowling Green State University. Well, okay, it was eleven years, but who the hell is counting? I ended up with three degrees and a liver the size of a manhole cover. I taught there for the last seven years, thereby leading to the moral decline of half a generation of Ohio college students.

I finally got the ol' PhD in 1995, and headed off to work at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. Great school, great place to work, worst place in America to live if you're in your late twenties and single.

While at home, we lead a relatively plain existence, but Cat and I love to travel. Check out some of our recent destinations.
